Balance Basics Class

‘Balance Basics’ is our evidence-based falls prevention program run by one of our our Physiotherapists Leon . These classes run twice weekly. The program involves participation in a semi-private exercise class (3 people per class) where you will be given an individualised exercise program to help address your specific risk factors, needs and goals.

Leon will provide assistance with your exercises, along with an occasional education portion which will look into risk factors for falls and how awareness of these can decrease your risk of falling.

If you think these classes would benefit you, please book in for an Initial Assessment with Leon who will assess your strength, balance and endurance to determine whether it is safe for you to join these classes.

Who can participate in the program?

  • Anyone aged 65 or older

  • If you’ve had a fall in the past

  • If you’re concerned about having a fall in the future

Rehab Class

This class is geared for anyone interested in additional rehab. These classes would be particularly beneficial if you have hip/knee osteoarthritis or lumbar pain (there’s a tonne of evidence to support that rehab classes can help increase strength and control in these patient populations!). If you find it difficult to complete your exercises at home, joining this class may help keep you on track and give you that extra push you need.

Your exercises will be geared to you and your rehab goals and can be used as an adjunct to your regular physiotherapy appointments.

The class will be able to accommodate a maximum of 5 patients and will run for just under an hour.

Prior to commencing attendance at the Rehab Class, please book an appointment with Nicola for pre-assessment.

So give us a call if you think these rehab classes sound like they would be helpful for you and your injury/condition.
