Claimable Telehealth Consults are now available!

Please read on to determine if your support service or insurance company will cover or provide rebates for your Online Telehealth consult with us. Please note that most of these additional COVID-19 items are available until September 30 2020. There will be a re-evaluation of whether continued availability of these services is necessary closer to this date. Please do not hesitate to call us if you wish to discuss anything or have any other queries or concerns!


Private Health Insurance

Private Health Insurance companies have announced that from April 14th, they will start covering Telehealth consultations for eligible patients. Below is a summary of the eligibility criteria in order for your Telehealth consult be approved by your insurer:

  • The customer is undergoing an existing course of treatment and the customer has seen the physiotherapist over the past six months, or

  • For new patients, the tele-physiotherapy service has been recommended by their general practitioner or relevant medical specialist, and

  • The primary condition being treated is one of:

    • Post orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation (e.g. Total hip or knee replacement)

    • Chronic musculoskeletal condition (e.g. osteoarthritis)

    • Cardiac rehabilitation

    • Pulmonary rehabilitation, or

    • pelvic floor muscle training,

  • The service is delivered before 30 September 2020, and

  • The service is undertaken in accordance with Australian Physiotherapy Association guidelines.

If you feel you need to further discuss your situation and are unsure if you come under the circumstances above, we encourage you to speak with your insurer directly to deem your personal eligibility.


Medicare (Enhanced Primary Care Plan or EPC)

If you have a current Enhanced Primary Care Plan (Chronic Disease Management) and are receiving physiotherapy treatment under this, then you are now eligible to claim any Online Telehealth Consults you may have. This applies if you obtain a new care plan as well.

  • These consults are Bulk-Billed ONLY and are only applicable for our 30min Telehealth Consults.

  • Please consult with your GP if you feel you would be eligible for an EPC Plan.

  • Phone consultations can also be claimed and arranged if video consultations are not available or possible.


Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

DVA have confirmed that from April 1st, DVA clients can now be covered for any Tele-physiotherapy consults.

  • Regular DVA treatment cycles continue to be applicable under these circumstances, however cannot be claimed for group classes.

  • Phone consultations can be arranged if video consultations are not available or possible.


SIRA (WorkCover & CTP)

If you are receiving or going to receive physiotherapy under a SIRA claim, Telehealth consults are available and can be arranged with pre-approval from your case manager. If Tele-physiotherapy is what you need, please contact your case manager to get this arranged or alternatively contact your physio directly and request for them to organise this with your case manager on behalf of you.


NDIS

NDIS do indeed cover Telehealth consults! Please contact your case manager if there are any personal queries you may have regarding this.


BUPA ADFHSC (Australian Defence Force)

Currently, BUPA ADFHSC unfortunately do not cover Online Telehealth Consultations.
