Running Assessments

Running assessments at Potts Point Physio provide an exciting opportunity for athletes to have their running assessed by a qualified physiotherapist to help improve running efficiency and speed. This will also reduce the risk of injuries by decreasing the stress and impact on your joints and tissues.

The assessment starts with a review of your training history and previous injuries, as well as a discussion about your future running goals – whether it’s to finish your first parkrun, or train for a competitive event.

 Next, we will video your running on a treadmill and review it in slow motion. You will see how your body moves and recieve feedback from your physiotherapist regarding areas of your technique that can be improved. A functional assessment will also be conducted to identify any biomechanical causes that may contribute to recurrent injuries.

 We will then work on retraining your movement patterns during running. Your physiotherapist may also provide some home exercises and drills to improve your running technique, as well as increase your strength, endurance or flexibility in specific areas that need to be addressed. Tailored advice on your training load and methods will also be discussed.
